Damp and timber treatment
Damp is the most common tenant complaint and the one problem that must be fixed before any insulation goes in. We diagnose the real cause — not just treat the symptom — and put it right.
What it is
Investigation and treatment of penetrating damp, rising damp, condensation and mould, and timber decay (wet and dry rot and woodworm) — starting with finding the actual cause rather than reaching for a chemical injection.
Why it matters
Damp harms tenants' health and the building, drives disrepair claims under the Homes (Fitness for Human Habitation) Act, and must be resolved before insulation — insulating a damp wall traps the moisture and makes it worse. PAS 2035 requires the moisture risk to be dealt with first.
Which properties suit it
Rentals with damp patches, black mould, musty smells, peeling paint or rotten timber, and any property about to be insulated where a moisture check flags a problem.

A proper diagnosis, the cause fixed (guttering, pointing, ventilation, damp-proofing or tanking as appropriate), timber treatment or replacement, and making good — with a report for your records.

Is it always rising damp?
No — most so-called rising damp is actually penetrating damp or condensation; we diagnose before treating.
Do I have to fix damp before insulating?
Yes — insulating a damp wall traps moisture, so PAS 2035 requires the cause fixed first.
Can you treat mould and condensation?
Yes, usually with a mix of ventilation, heating and fabric fixes rather than just wiping it off.
Do you treat woodworm and rot?
Yes, timber treatment and replacement where decay has set in.
